5 Tips and Tricks for Getting Started with Your Camp Snap

5 Tips and Tricks for Getting Started with Your Camp Snap

So you’ve got your Camp Snap in hand—congrats! 🎉 Whether you’re brand new to screen-less digital cameras or a seasoned shooter looking for a fresh perspective, these simple tips will help you get the most out of your first Camp Snap adventures.

1. Get the Bundle (or Accessories)** [not an affiliate link—see below]

If you’re just getting started, we highly recommend going for the Camp Snap Bundle. It includes the official Camp Snap Camera Bag, the Waterproof Case, and the Dual-Function Camera Wrist Strap—all designed to keep your camera safe and adventure-ready.

If you already own the camera, you can grab these accessories separately:

…protects your lightweight plastic body and lens from scratches, dust, and everyday wear.

…gives you peace of mind by preventing accidental drops, and doubles as a usb-c to usb-c cord.

…not only lets you shoot underwater but also expands where your camera can travel with you—think jet skis, boat rides, lakeside hangs, or even a lazy river float.

Your Camp Snap is built to mimic the charm of a disposable camera, but a little protection goes a long way in keeping it ready for every photo op.

2. Set the Time and Date First

Before your first photo adventure, take a moment to set the correct date and time on your Camp Snap. This ensures your photos have accurate metadata — a small step that helps you look back and remember exactly when each moment happened.

Access the Time Settings

Gently unscrew the small Phillips screw on the bottom of your camera and remove the plastic cover. You’ll see three small buttons underneath — these are used to set the date and time.

Set the Date and Time

Press and hold the MODE button to enter date-setting mode. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to adjust the year….

then press MODE again to save and move to the next setting (month, day, hour, minute).

Continue

until the camera returns to showing your photo count — that means your settings are saved and you’re good to go.

Now your Camp Snap will remember the moment as clearly as you do making it easy for:

Organized files

Your photos will line up neatly in order, saving you headaches later.

Memories made clear –

Looking back, you’ll always know when a photo was taken, and even add information like what filter it was taken with, for future reference.

Geo-tagging compatibility –

Many apps use timestamps to help place your photos on the map. Your Camp Snap will place the date and time— all you have to do is batch edit the locations!

Take two minutes to do this—you’ll thank yourself later!

3. Find Your Grip

The Camp Snap is lightweight and minimal, which can feel very different if you’re used to heavier cameras or a phone. Spend a little time practicing how you hold it.

⚠️ Pro tip: Keep an eye out for stray fingers (or the brim of your hat!) sneaking into the frame. More than a few Camp Snappers have lost a perfect shot this way.

4. Take It for a Spin

Sure, it sounds obvious, but your first few shots are more than just practice. We recommend starting with the standard filter and shooting in different lighting conditions—bright sun, shade, indoors, at dusk, etc.

This gives you a solid baseline so that when you start experimenting with creative filters, you’ll know exactly how they’re changing the look of your photos. Think of it as creating your own personal reference library.

 5. Move Around

Don’t settle for just one angle! Take the same shot from the left, right, above, or crouched low. Ask yourself:

*Which angle makes the subject pop?

*How does the light shift as you move?

*Did one perspective capture more of the “story” of the moment?

Notice how the first two images “pop” and really capture the moment, whereas the third image is slightly dull. Getting into the habit of moving around trains your eye to see everyday scenes in more dynamic and creative ways.

That’s it for now! 🎒📸 Your Camp Snap journey is just beginning. Come back next time when we share tips and tricks for staying organized with your Camp Snap—because once you start shooting, the photos add up fast.
